Residents praise new Safer Town Centre Team

On Saturday 6th February the new Safer Town Centre (STC) Team Cricklewood held an open meeting at the play area  KARA WAY NW2  to let local people discuss their problems. Residents expressed their thanks for the work and commitment of the team.

One resident said, "Communication has improved significantly as residents and the STC have got to know each other. Many residents now recognise the STC police and no longer feel that they are wasting police time if they bring up a matter of concern to them. This can only be of benefit to both the community and STC. Feedback from the police on any incident reported is also good. There’s nothing worse than being left in the dark about something of concern to your community.

"I can genuinely say that I, and I think many other residents, are always pleased to see the PCSO’s biking round the terraces - we are reassured by this. You frequently hear 'oh, the police were here today on their bikes or they were walking around’. This is passed on as a sort of reassurance that all’s well.

Last year many of us felt very threatened by what was going on in the playground. The problems we were experiencing then were coming from outside the terraces. Now the tide began to turn. We all know too well that the worst thing we could do would be too ignore the situation.  Feedback from the police on any incident reported is also good. There’s nothing worse than being left in the dark about something of concern to your community.”

PS Wappat the sergeant in charge of the STC said, “I am pleased by the positive reception we have had to the start of the STC team and the recognition the team has already received. We will ensure that we continue to build on this.”
