Clapham Common SNT watching for the burglars

We asked, You Said, We did

We Asked: Over the past 12 months Clapham Common Ward has had 28 public meetings to ascertain public priorities and concerns.

You Said: The Ward Panel, comprising of members of the community decided our ward priorities should be; Residential Burglaries, Drugs related Anti-Social Behaviour on the Notre Dame Estate and Youth Engagement.

We Did;    

Prevention of Residential Burglaries:

• Increased patrols in identified burglary hotspots within the ward.

• Implementation of new Neighbourhood Watch Schemes.

• 15/11/2009 Two men were arrested and charged with attempted burglary on St Alphonsus Road.

Drugs related Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) on the Notre Dame Estate:

• Increased patrols on the estate targeting known drug users/dealers.

• In partnership with Lambeth Council we are looking at environmental changes to reduce the problem.

• Known drug dealer followed from the estate, was searched and found in possession of 48 wraps of heroin. He was charged and remanded in custody.

Youth Engagement:

• Increased engagement/liaison with all educational establishments on the ward.

• Clapham Summer Project Lambeth Academy for 150 local young people.

• Growing against gangs introduced into curriculum at LambethAcademy
