DAC Peter Clarke in Strathclyde.
DAC Peter Clarke gave the following statement at a press conference in Strathclyde yesterday. "In terms of the wider investigation, we are learning a great deal about the people who were involved in the attacks here in Glasgow and the attempted attacks in central London. "The links between the three attacks are becoming ever clearer. We are pursuing many lines of enquiry. I am confident, absolutely confident, that in the coming days and weeks, we will be able to gain a thorough understanding of the methods used by the terrorists, the way they planned their attacks and the network to which they belong. "My job here in Glasgow has been to ensure that the investigation into the London attacks, and yesterday's attack at Glasgow Airport are totally co-ordinated "Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command are working very closely with our colleagues from the Strathclyde Police - and indeed from a number of police forces across the country. The forensic examination of the vehicles involved in these attacks is proving to be extremely valuable. Meanwhile, the detailed, very detailed examination of thousands of hours of CCTV material is, yet again helping us to piece together the events of the past few days. I have to say the process will take many weeks to complete. As you know two men have been arrested in Glasgow. A further three people, two men, one woman, have also been arrested and they are being taken to London to be interviewed. The investigation in to these events is extremely fast moving. It is no exaggeration to at all to say that new information is coming to light hour by hour. It would not be right for me to give a running commentary on the investigation. However, I shall, of course, give more information, when it is right to do so, but I must respect the fact that there are now people in custody, and so due process must take its course. I would urge the public to stay alert. I shall repeat that which I have already said before that public safety is, has always been and will remain, our top priority, and we shall be doing everything we can to keep you safe. "
