Commissioner’s Colin Cramphorn speech
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair delivered the second annual Colin Cramphorn Memorial Lecture tonight (Wednesday 18 June). His speech, Accountability in Policing or 'What has this to do with Bromley?' looks at the accountability and governance of policing in London and how more local accountability can be achieved without compromising the operational capability of the Met. Sir Ian delivered his speech at 6.30pm at the Policy Exchange headquarters in Storey's Gate, Westminster. The Colin Cramphorn Memorial Lecture was created in memory of Colin Cramphorn, the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire who died of prostate cancer at the age of 50 in November 2006. Former MPS Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke delivered the inaugural lecture last year, Learning from experience:Counter Terrorism in the UK since 9/11.
